Below are pictures of the coolest kid in the world and definately the coolest out of the 33 born at this hospital today. Gavin was #27 for the day and they had about 6 more mothers already here at 7:00pm. Who knows, maybe more women have come. Kandra says this hospital is a baby factory!
Anyway, here are some pictures of Kandra and the baby that I took a few minutes ago. He's all cleaned up and all he wants to do is eat. Kandra says that it's been a rough day...

The coolest kid in the world: Gavin Reid Owens

The newest member of the Owens Family
Kandra did excellent. The baby weighs 7lb 14oz and was 20 inches long. He has long arms, big hands, long legs, and long feet. He was born at 6:57pm EST. We are pretty sure his name will be Gavin Reid Owens
Kandra is doing well. She's glad it's over. I don't think the epidural was placed correctly; thus, Kandra was in a lot of pain.
Here are some pictures.
More to come soon!

End in Sight!
Just a quick little update, I went to the Dr yesterday and I am at 5 cm. Yes.. I know... it is INSANE! Why won't I go just all the way?? Anyway, so she said that she would try to help things along and she would also schedule an induction tomorrow (Thursday) at 9am in case I didn't go into labor on my own. Well, what she did just made me miserable all day yesterday by making me have semi-painful contractions all day but they never progressed into hard core labor. So today, I have had contractions but nothing too serious so I felt good enough to cut my mom's hair and then she cut my hair and my Dad's hair. Now, we are just relaxing until I go in tomorrow unless a miracle happens and I go tonight.
I kind of feel like it is the "calm before the storm". Just weird to know this is the last time it will be like this. I would have to say that it is a good thing that I have progressed far enough (without too much pain, although I wouldn't say I feel peachy either) that I can get an epidural pretty much right away. I am blessed in that respect. So I guess this is the last post until we can finally have something or should I say someone to post about!:)

What's your prediction??
OK, I want everyone to guess the day the baby will come, the time of day, his weight, and his length.
Let's see who is the closest. I know it won't be Jared because he guessed today at 2:00. That gives me 2 hours and 44 minutes to have him. haha

No baby yet :(
Unfortunately, the little guy doesn't want to come out. I'm feeling pretty good though. I'm just tired...tired of being pregnant. We'll keep you posted...

Jared is Running for President
Hey everybody, I wanted to let you know that Jared has decided to run for President. He isn't very happy with either candidate. However, what started off as a joke turned into this big story. Check out the story that Channel 3 here in Columbus did on him.

Update
I just had an appointment yesterday and I am dialated to a 3-4 and 80% effaced. They said it will be anytime in the next 4 or so days. They were pretty amazed for being a first time mom. My Dr had to leave in a hurry because two of her patients were going into labor so it will be a busy week for her! I also went to work yesterday and everyone was so surprised that I was even there. I will go to work today and then it will be my last. I am happy, but I will miss my co-workers.
They always say that the pregnant women will nest just before labor, yeah well, I think Jared caught that bug these past few days because he has been so great helping me get the house in order and also getting all of his applications sent out to law firms and courts before the little guy comes. WHAT A PAIN IN THE REAR!! Anyway, he is so great and I can't wait until we can have one more join our little family!
Until then...

Fiesta!, Relaxation:), Labor?, School:(
Just really quick, last weekend we had a get together with some of my co-workers who are just some of the greatest people and we had a fiesta because it was Ann's birthday. John (who is sitting on his deck in the picture below) has the coolest backyard where he sets up a projector out his back window and it projects onto a screen as you can see below. He has a deck so you can sit on that to watch the movie or just on some lawn chairs that he has. It was perfect weather and we really had a great time.
You can see the house next to his is really close but they don't mind, they just come and enjoy the movie too.
Happy Birthday Ann!
This is John who hosted the party. I have said this before on other posts but he is a great chef and we always love to come to his parties because he cooks the best food!
38 weeks
The last couple of weeks I think Jared has felt sorry for me(which is ALWAYS a good thing for me,especially in this case :)) because yesterday I got a massage and pedicure. I wasn't going to get anything done except maybe for a pedicure for money sake, but he has had mercy on my soul the past couple of weeks and urged me to get them done.
So, I have been swollen as you know from my last post and just recently Jared has come up with a nick name for my feet. He calls them "Fiona Feet" because they look like Shrek's wife's feet(from the movie)....MEAN, huh! Actually I think it is quite hilarious and I don't mind really at all. So maybe having pretty toes and a cute flower on them will distract people from looking at my swollen feet. What do you think?
The flower on it has a lot of detail but you can't really see it. I think they did a really good job and was worth the money.
So here is a not so pretty picture of me at 38 weeks just before we went out yesterday. Last night after we got home I had a some B Hicks contractions that were beginning to feel "real" (whatever that means, since I am not sure what they will feel like exactly) because they were coming every 8 minutes for about 2-3 hours. I didn't think they were the real thing except they were so consistent for so long. However, they finally subsided and I finally went to bed.
It is so hard to figure out when my mom should come because I don't want her to come out tomorrow and then not go into labor for another week, but I don't want to wait too late and then her miss everything. I have a Dr.'s appointment tomorrow morning and so we will see if I have progressed any.
School, who needs to go to school?
Well, Jared is back in school as of this past week and for the first time in his ENTIRE life he was NOT looking forward to going back to school. Usually, he waits with great anticipation for school to start because he enjoys to learn and enjoys the change from the summer routine. Well, not this year. He is definitely getting the graduation fever and I sure as heck don't blame him; I got that when was in high school (maybe even elementary school), let alone in undergrad and law school. Even still, he says that he will really like his classes and has some interesting and great teachers. I don't know how you can find "Accounting for Lawyers", "Taxation of Business Enterprises" (Corporate Tax), "Secured Transactions in Personal Property", and "Real Estate Development Law" interesting at all!! He always tries to convince me of all the reasons why they ARE interesting...as I begin to doze off.:) I am glad that he likes what he is learning and doing so that is all that matters.
I guess the court where he works at said that if he doesn't find a job out West that they would love for him to stay and work for them. That is pretty big compliment coming from his boss apparently. Not that we necessarily want to stay here (although if we had to, then it wouldn't be so bad, other than we want to get back to be closer to family), but it is good to know that we have something to fall back on.
Football season is just around the corner...YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other day I thought about the fact that my dad, baby boy, and I (oh yeah, Jared too!) will get to watch football together, it made me sooooo excited.
